I have been developing my craft of driftwood sculpture for over 15 years and been part of the Artists of the Limberlost Studio Tour since it began in 2008. The driftwood is sourced from the shallows of Bella Lake. The beauty of the wood is not initially apparent as the pieces are covered with sand, silt, and algae. It requires meticulous cleaning and sanding (no carving) to bring out the natural shape, texture and grain of the wood. Finishing with a natural oil further displays the drama in the grain. Mounting a piece on Muskoka granite enhances its impact.
My gallery and workshop are open in summer and at other times by appointment. Commissions are welcomed.
