Starting January 1, 2026, HAS is moving to a two-tier membership structure which was voted in at our Annual General Meeting. We know this might raise a lot of questions, so hopefully this page answers some of they key ones below!

What Happens if I am a Current Member?

If you are a current member as of January 1, 2026, with a renewal date in 2026, then your membership will continue until renewal, at which point you will need to select one of the new Membership Tiers. 

If you wish to change your membership to either Tier 1 or Tier 2 as of the new year, to ensure you are able to show in the spaces you desire, just let us know at hasinc.treasurer@gmail.com and we can get that processed right away. You will need to address the price difference from your current membership (whether it is a 1 year or 2 year). 

Why is Tier 2 so expensive?

Firstly, not everyone wants to show in Partners Hall, or curate solo or group shows. We believe the new tiers of membership reflects this difference between artists while still providing benefits no matter the membership level.

Specifically, our new Tier 2 pricing was established after a thorough historical review of what artists were paying to show their works in Partners Hall. Our analysis showed us that with all the show fees, hanging fees and other administrative fees, artists were actually paying up to $400 a year to show in Partners Hall! 

We revisited our pricing to ensure that now, your annual Tier 2 membership will include all show fees and hanging fees, plus posters and assistance with advertising and social media. This will result in a cost savings for all artists who do decide they wish to show in Partners Hall, participate in the Christmas Marketplace, etc. 

Lastly, with Tier 2 pricing, this means you have an opportunity to be paid by HAS to teach workshops in the Muskoka region. If you teach a two hour workshop in one year, you will make back your annual membership fee! 

What if I change my mind and want to go to Tier 2 (or vice versa)?

No problem. You can “upgrade” to Tier 2 at any time. Just email us at hasinc.treasurer@gmail.com and we will advise on next steps.
