Muskoka North Studio Tour

Muskoka North Studio Tour Inaugural Event:
August 15–17, 2025
Huntsville, Ontario – The Muskoka North Studio Tour is excited to announce its inaugural
self-guided tour, taking place from August 15–17, 2025. This exciting, new studio tour invites
locals and tourists to step inside the creative worlds of 26 talented artists across 14 unique
studios, from Utterson to Huntsville, Burk’s Falls to Limberlost and Dwight – offering visitors a
unique opportunity to experience art in its natural habitat.
Discover Local, Canadian Artistry
“The Muskoka North Studio Tour features 26 juried artists, with most studios hosting two artists
to encourage variety at each stop.” says Karen Gray, a local ceramic artist and owner of the
Potter’s Studio & Gallery in Huntsville.
This year showcases:
● Painters working in oil, watercolor, acrylic, and mixed media—from bold abstracts to
serene landscapes
● Potters creating both functional and sculptural pieces, including garden art
● Woodworkers such as turners, carvers, and model birchbark canoes
● Blacksmith crafting sculpture, hardware and hooks
● Textile artist creating watercolour art with wool
● Jewelry designers producing wearable works of art
● Sculpture artist transforming driftwood into sculptures
A Tour Born from Community Spirit
The inspiration for the Muskoka North Studio Tour began with local painter Nancy McKinnon,
who placed a call for interest in the Huntsville Art Society newsletter in 2024. “The response
was immediate and enthusiastic,” says Gray.
“There’s such an abundance of artistic talent in the north Muskoka region, and equally, an
abundance of people—both year-round and seasonal residents—who truly value and support
local, Canadian art,” says Gray. “With the loss of long-standing events like the Limberlost Studio
Tour and the original Muskoka Autumn Studio Tour, it felt like the perfect time to create
something new that would highlight this amazing community of artists.”
What Visitors Can Expect
The Muskoka North Studio Tour offers an immersive experience into the creative process by
allowing participants to visit artists’ studios. “It offers the chance for visitors to learn about the
artists and the inspiration behind their work as well as watch demonstrations to see how it’s
made,” says Gray. “It gives them the understanding of what goes into making art and that every
piece is created with care and passion.”
Participants can spend the weekend immersed in creativity and discovery, exploring the local
region, often tucked within scenic landscapes. In a world dominated by mass production,
participants also have the opportunity to purchase original, handmade, local, Canadian artwork.
Whether you’re an avid art enthusiast or a curious traveler, the tour is designed to connect
people with art—and to the people who make it. “Come on out! It will be a fun 3 days of
discovering studios and artists all within 30 minutes of Huntsville,” says Gray.
