HAS at HPL: Dawn Huddlestone

April 1, 2023 - May 31, 2023

The Huntsville Art Society presents cyanotype artist Dawn Huddlestone at Huntsville Public Library.

The cyanotype process is a photographic technique created in the mid-1800s and popularized by Anna Atkins as a means of capturing botanical prints. Paper, fabric, or other natural materials are coated with a UV-sensitive solution, covered with plants, feathers, other items, or a photo negative, and then exposed to the sun (or a UV lamp) to capture the image in stunning Prussian blue background. Cyanotypes can also be bleached, toned, and otherwise altered to interesting effect. It’s like magic! (But really it’s science.)

Make your way to 7 Minerva Street duringĀ library hours to see Dawn’s work. Learn more about her at birchnotescreative.square.site.
