Shirley Brown
I have been drawing and painting ever since I can remember. At school in Darjeeling, India, we painted in watercolour and gouache. Our work was submitted to the Royal Academy of Drawing in London, England and have 4 Honour Certificates from the Academy, the first one was at 10 years old.
I took workshops in Life Drawing and Oil Painting when I was seventeen after which I wanted to take up art as a career unfortunately I was badly advised and didn’t follow up art even though I was accepted at The Slade School of Fine Art and St. Martins College of Art in London England.
I started painting again when I retired and now love to try various differing media from Acrylics, watercolour, silk screen and watercolour mono prints. I enjoy a challenge of trying new projects from egg tempera, collage, card making and now I have fallen for Glass Fusion after one workshop in Barrie. My latest passion is for Textile Sculpting and I recently received a certificate as a certified Paverpol instructor and use alcohol ink and am experimenting with Acrylic pour painting at present.
I have sold my work in High Park, Toronto, Bronte, Oakville, Bracebridge, Gravenhurst and Huntsville at various art shows
I am a strong believer in challenging myself, and paint for the joy of creation.
