I paint flora & fauna subjects from nature around the world to share my love of creation, and to increase awareness of its beauty and our obligation to care for it.
When I was a child and youth, I refined my skills in drawing, and when I started painting, I found it difficult to depart from fine detail. To rid myself of perfectionism, I began experimenting with a variety of media and eventually returned to painting. Currently, my choice medium is acrylic, and I have made use of the variety of acrylic mediums to achieve various effects in my work. If any texture “sculpting” is needed, from the delicate shaping of strands of animal fur to the coarseness of granite rock, that adds time to the process. I work with high-quality acrylic paints and materials, and I have experimented with acrylic mediums to find what works best to achieve my desired “3D” effects. Photography is another of my loves. I often photograph the scenes and the wildlife that appear in my paintings.
My home gallery in Bracebridge is open to the public on select dates and hours (please call ahead or look for the ARTrail Purple Banner which means we’re open!).
